Dylan Cunard is a Director and advises across the Disputes and Insolvency & Business Rescue practice areas. He specialises in corporate mergers & acquisitions; commercial property; private equity; investment funds; international transactions; black economic empowerment transactions; and advising on compliance with international (particularly UK and US) anti-bribery legislation. Dylan trained at a Magic Circle Firm in London from 2003 – 2005 and was part of the Werksmans team that won “Offshore Investment Team of the Year for South Africa”, at the Offshore Excellence Awards judged in London, in August 2014. As Dylan is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales he can issue English Law legal opinions, conduct English law conveyancing matters and UK property transactions, and provide UK general corporate and commercial advice, where transactions are governed by English law, particularly involving underlying interests in Africa.

  • Advising Pepkor Holdings Limited in its disposal of its 100% equity stake in The Building Company Proprietary Limited (TBCo) to Capitalworks Private Equity and selected members of TBCo management for a purchase price of cR1,2 billion.  
  • Advised Allan Gray, Amnesty International, Bank Insinger de Beaufort, Inspired Evolution, Investec Bank, JP Morgan, Palladino, Rapid African Energy Holdings and SAB Miller on various international transactions
  • Acted for Nomura on their acquisition of  Lehman Brothers Limited’s equities and investment banking division and for other large banking clients such as Credit Suisse, Citigroup and DGHYP on various refinancings in London 
  • Acted for E&Y on the administration of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander (the Icelandic Bank)
  • Admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, 2005
