Note from David Hertz, Chairman

I am pleased to announce that Werksmans has expanded its commercial offering welcoming two legal teams into our Johannesburg and Cape Town offices. Formerly from Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (CDH), the teams include Directors, Jenni Darling (banking and finance), Roelof Bonnet (corporate mergers and acquisitions) and Etta Chang (corporate mergers and acquisitions). All are highly distinguished in their relevant fields of expertise with enviable reputations which will enhance Werksmans’ status amongst and within the legal fraternity.

Jenni is a multi-faceted banking and finance specialist focusing on advising in relation to both debt and preference shares, the formation of investment vehicles and on tax issues.

Roelof specialises in transactional work, both in the public and private space, with particular expertise in private equity transactions across a range of sectors.

Etta also specialises in transactional work across a range of sectors and has developed extensive expertise in project managing large and complex legal diligence investigations.

Additional team members include Cyprian Mthembu, Senior Associate, Jennifer Begg, Senior Associate, Sidasha Singh, Senior Associate, James Wewege, Associate, Palesa Serumula, Associate and Domnique Zeiler, Paralegal Secretary.

It is particularly pleasing that lawyers of this calibre are attracted to our firm and to the ethos and values which underpin our legal offering.

In the context of the heightened challenges which our clients face in the ever changing economic and industry environment within which we operate, our ability to continue to operate as a pre-eminent South African law firm within the commercial and corporate sectors which we service in matters that matter has been greatly enhanced.

Kind regards,

David Hertz
