Is privacy a debate worth having?

1 June 2023 |  Please RSVP by 29 May 2023

Globally, we’ve seen an exponential increase in data breaches followed by an enhanced requirement for compliance with data privacy legislation.

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI) enables people to access and enforce their privacy rights and sets out obligations for both private and public entities. Understanding the impact of this legislation is imperative for anyone partaking in the economy.

Coinciding with the panel discussion will be the official launch of the publication, “Protection of Personal information: Law and Practice, 2nd Edition” authored by Yvonne Burns and Ahmore Burger Smidt, published by LexisNexis.

Werksmans Attorneys and LexisNexis invite you to a panel discussion including, Adv. Pansy Tlakula, Adv. Lebogang Stroom-Nzama, from the Information Regulator SA and Professor Stuart Woolman, Wits University, as they explore the legal position and application of the law in South Africa, including PAIA.

A view will also be presented from leaders in the business community.
