Corporate Citizenship

Corporate Citizenship

Werksmans Attorneys focus on playing a positive role in corporate citizenship as well as corporate social responsibility which holds an indisputable impact on today’s society and contributing to the communities in which we operate.

We appreciate the need to promote the constitutional imperative of access to justice for all. An important way in which we achieve this is by providing pro bono legal services in matters that are of public significance.

In our Johannesburg office, we work closely with, a public interest law clearing house, the Wits Law Clinic, and the Legal Resources Centre. In the Western Cape, our lawyers provide legal advisory services to emerging entrepreneurs with limited means through The Red Door, a pilot programme implemented by the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

Worthy causes we have assisted include organisations championing the healthcare rights of cancer patients; environmental conservation agencies; communities living in informal settlements; and emerging entrepreneurs, among others.

By harnessing our people’s skills and passions, we support a number of worthy charitable causes.

The National Department of Social Development together with The National CSI Registrar recognised Werksmans for its contributions and efforts towards the social upliftment and enrichment of South African society.  The National CSI Registrar formally accredited Werksmans for its achievements as a platinum community contributor for the period 2010 – 2011. We believe solely in corporate social responsibility.
